When the time comes to replace some of the floorings in your home, upgrading to marble floor tiles part of your house may be appealing. There are many different options to choose from and different color marble tiles that you could use, and a tile flooring installer can help you pick the right tiles for your space.

Choosing The Tile

When considering marble tiles for your floors, you need to start by selecting the tiles you want to use. There are many different grades of marble, depending on where it is sourced, the colors and the veins running through it can vary a lot, and finding the perfect match for your interior is essential.

Dark tiles may look better with the finishes in the room, or maybe a light tile with dark streaks that blend into the decor better. The choice of the tiles can change the entire look of the room, but working with a professional installer or interior designer can help make the choices easier.

Marble tiles are typically durable, but some tiles offer more durability than others. Talk to the tile installer or the interior designer you are working with about what the best marble tiles are for your situation, and they can recommend several types for you to consider.

Tile Installation

When you have selected your tile, you need a tile installer to set the marble floor tiles. The old flooring must be removed and the floor underneath cleaned and prepped to accept the new marble tiles. In most homes, the subfloor is plywood, and once the old flooring is gone, the subfloor can be sanded to remove any adhesive or other materials left behind from the old flooring.

If the floor is not level, the flooring installer may put a thin coat of floor leveler down to ensure the tiles sit flat and all the joints are the same height. Once the floor is level, the floor installer will start laying your marble tiles, one at a time.

A bed of thin-set mortar is put down on the floor, and tile is set into it and leveled. As additional tiles are positioned, spacers are used to keep the joints constant, and the floor is regularly checked to ensure it stays level across the entire floor.

When the entire floor is covered, the marble tile installer will fill the joints with the appropriate grout and allow it to dry. Once the floor is dry, it is washed with water to remove extra grout on the surface. With the proper maintenance, your new marble tiles will last for years and look great in your home.
